Better Value in the NHS: The King’s Fund Report

The King’s Fund has published a report entitled “Better value in the NHS – The role of changes in clinical practice.’’ Following calls for savings of £22 billion from the NHS five year forward view, this report puts forward an argument for the NHS to focus its efforts on getting better value from the NHS budget, a task often overlooked in the attempt to make savings through efficiency and costs. The Kings Fund looks at past trends in NHS productivity such as generic prescribing, length of stay and day case surgery and illustrates how, with the help of clinical staff, these services can be improved in future.
