Brexit Speech to Reveal the “Negotiating Priorities” Follow the Triggering of Article 50 in March

As widely reported, the Prime Minister is to reveal the dozen “negotiating priorities” she will pursue in the negotiations which will follow the triggering of Article 50 in March. The speech itself is expected to start at 11.45am today (17th January 2017).

Mrs May’s Brexit speech at last year’s Conservative conference set three ‘red lines’: control of immigration, no influence for the European Court of Justice, and trade deals with other countries and we expect today’s speech to reflect these priorities.

Politics Home will also be covering the event via a live blog (from 10.30am)

In the speech it was confirmed for first time explicitly, that the UK is giving up membership of the single market: “I want to be clear: what I am proposing cannot mean membership of the single market… It would, to all intents and purposes, mean not leaving the EU at all.”
