The Scottish Chief Medical Officer has Published their Annual Report

The report talks about “Realistic Medicine” which is focussed on putting the person receiving health and care at the centre of decision-making and creates a personalised approach to their care. It is hoped that “Realistic Medicine” will be an integral part of healthcare in Scotland by 2025, with patients being informed of all the possible treatments or interventions available with a realistic explanation of their potential benefits and risks for them as an individual.

This type of healthcare will increase the focus on clinical benefit, but will also involve the patient in assessing the individual value of therapeutic interventions.
