Letter from the Science and Technology Committee on the Key Issues for the Next Government on the Industrial strategy

Lord Selborne, Chairman of the House of Lords Science and Technology Select Committee has written a letter to the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy outlining the key issues for the next Government as it develops the recent consultation into an effective Industrial Strategy. The key points outlined in the letter are designed to build on discussions within the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee, and evidence from witnesses. The letter stated that “the Green Paper, however, is a portfolio of tactics rather than a coherent strategy” which can be monitored and implemented effectively. Among the recommendations is the need to create a coherent approach, to tax and regulation for industry and science and it requests that the Government sets out the process which will ensure that the strategy is implemented.
