Centralised Procurement for High-Cost Devices Supported by NHS Trusts

NHS trusts have continued to support NHS England’s zero cost model for purchasing high-cost tariff-excluded devices, since it’s launch in April 2016, with 45% of trusts having moved at least one of their qualifying device categories to the new model. Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is leading the way with nine of the 17 device category areas now operating through the model. The new model way of working provides NHS England transparency of device usage. This is essential to gain a better understanding of patient needs, whilst driving better value for money.
