Funding Competition for Research into Worldwide Disease and Infection

The 33 research units and groups that will receive over £120 million funding for global health research have been announced by the Department of Health. The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) led the open competition for funding into research into worldwide disease and infection. Following the success of this initial competition, a second call for applications has also been launched, which will be funded by £40 million from the Department of Health Official Developmental Assistance (ODA) budget.

The competition is for research that will improve the health of patients and public in low and middle-income countries, and will help to understand infections and antimicrobial resistance.
