Stakeholder coalition report calls for improved radiotherapy access in the UK

A coalition of stakeholders have created a report of eight recommendations for improvements in advanced radiotherapy services, in order to support NHS England in their aim to,

“ensure equal access to radiotherapy services and provide the best clinical outcomes and experience for people with cancer and their families.”

The coalition included leaders from patient groups, academia, government and the private sector. One of the eight recommendations was a maximum of 45 minutes travel time for radiotherapy appointments.

The report was created due to the charity Action Radiotherapy’s manifesto and public petition, both of which highlighted the requirement for improvements in radiotherapy services.
