A digital GP provider app has been launched in the UK to provide patients with GP appointments via their mobile phone or tablet.
The app, ‘LIVI’ was developed by a Swedish company to make seeing a GP more convenient. From General Medical Council (GMC)-certified practitioners patients can access medical advice, prescriptions and referrals to specialists.
The app has previously only been available for private services, with GP appointments usually costing £49, but a new partnership has made the NHS service available to patients in North West Surrey and North West England. There are plans for expansion of the NHS service to the rest of the country.
LIVI UK managing director, Luke Buhl-Nielsen, stated,
“Our ambition is that, by using LIVI, we can work in partnership with the NHS to help improve access for patients whilst reducing pressure on local healthcare services and help deliver on Matt Hancock’s call for the UK to become the most advanced health system in the world.”
