Members have been chosen from a pool of over 500 applicants according to their knowledge, skills and experience, and represent a wide cross-section of stakeholders. The Assembly will be co-chaired by leading GP, Dr Claire Gerada, and the former head fo the King’s Fund Think Tank, Sir Christopher Ham. Their first meeting is scheduled for Spring 2019, and will thereafter be held on a quarterly basis.
Simon Stevens, Chief Executive of NHS England, has commented that:
“The NHS Assembly rightly reflects a wide diversity of patient, public and staff views and expertise. It builds on the inclusive process for designing the NHS Long Term Plan, and will help guide its implementation in the years to come.”
