The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has announced that Seema Kennedy MP has been appointed to the role of Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Public Health and Primary Care.
Ms Kennedy joins DHSC following her role as Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) to the Prime Minister, a role she had held since June 2017.
The Minister’s role will include responsibility for:
- primary care
- prevention and early intervention
- health protection and improvement
- sexual health
- public health system
- international diplomacy and relations
- major diseases
- NHS litigation
Ms Kennedy’s role will also involve being the Ministerial lead on Public Health England, the Food Standards Agency, and NHS Resolution.
