Malcolm Wright has been appointed as the Chief Executive of NHS Scotland and Director General of Health and Social Care at the Scottish Government.
The appointment has been made following Mr Wright carrying out the role on an interim basis since February this year.
Following the appointment, Scottish Health Secretary Jeane Freeman said:
“I am very pleased to announce that Malcolm will be the new Chief Executive of NHS Scotland. With more than 40 years’ experience in a variety of roles, he brings a wealth of knowledge about what makes NHS and social care tick.
“We have worked well together during the time that he has been in post on an interim basis, and I know he shares my determination to equip our health and care system to meet the challenges of the future, and to continue delivering an excellent service for the people of Scotland.”
Mr Wright’s previous experience includes Chief Executive roles throughout NHS Scotland.
