The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has decided to offer its scientific advice service for free to products targeting the coronavirus crisis.
Jeanette Kusel, Director of Scientific Advice, said in an announcement:
“NICE Scientific Advice will provide free fast track advice for companies who are developing novel diagnostics or therapeutics for COVID-19. The fast track service will help companies optimise their approach to generating essential levels of evidence required for health technology assessment. The NICE team will review the proposed study protocol and provide a fast track report outlining the key clinical and economic considerations from NICE’s perspective. This can be done at the same time as receiving regulatory scientific advice. Depending on the demand for the free advice service, NICE may need to prioritise requests.”
