NICE publishes guide to evidence collection for COVID-19 products

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Scientific Advice has produced a guide for companies seeking to generate evidence in support of their product for use in coronavirus.

The guide explains aspects of confirmatory trials:

  • Design
  • Population
  • Intervention
  • Comparator
  • Outcomes
  • Duration
  • Other considerations

Aspects of real-world evidence are also discussed, and information on how to use the NICE Scientific Advice facility.

The guide will be invaluable for developers of medical technologies not accustomed to working with NICE and the options available.

NICE says that the guide should be read in conjunction with the usual source of methods information for NICE assessments, the guide to the methods of technology appraisals 2013.

Find the guide, which will be updated regularly, on the NICE Scientific Advice website.
